Take time to get to know yourself

May 18, 2014

I try to be a regular blogger, but sometimes things come up in life and since it’s not top priority, it’s one of the first things I’ll drop. Anyway, here I am again writing down some thoughts.

My first blogpost about two months ago was about doing what you love. Life is too short to do spend it mostly on things you don’t like. So it’s important to find out what you love. However, I think researching what you love is part of a bigger story. Recently I got myself a creative scratch book with many interesting questions about your life and about what you want in life. Some of the questions are ones that I was already dealing with in my notebooks, but there are also many new and surprising ones, like “How would you describe your life in one sentence?

In order to have a fulfilling life I think it’s essential to find out what it really is that you want. In your wildest dreams, how would your life look like? One of my favourite messages on youtube asks this question: “What would you do if money was no object?” Of course that’s quite an out-of-the-box question, but I think that a question like that can help you to find out what it is that you really want.

How often do you take time to stand still and look where you’re going? More and more I find out that life is like a road trip. It’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey. You don’t need to exactly know where you’re going, but it’s good to know at least in which direction you’re heading. Where are you now and are you happy where you are?

Do yourself a favour and take for example a Sunday afternoon to find an answer to these two questions: Who am I & what do I want?
