Do what you love
March 25, 2014I love to write. Most of the time I write code. Regularly I write thoughts and ideas down in a journal and from time to time I make notes in a notebook or in Evernote. Next to all that, I also got the desire to write publicly again, so tonight I quickly set up this blog. It still needs some finishing touches, but as I’m learning from the book I’m reading at the moment: it’s important to just make a start and so here I am.
My idea is to write short blogs about Webdevelopment, UI Design and more interesting topics that cross my mind. I’ll also share inspiring things I run into, like the poster down here. It’s called the Holstee Manifest and is mainly about following your heart and living your life. Many years ago, a friend of mine told me to always follow my heart. Back then I didn’t quite get what he meant. But throughout the years I’ve learned that he was completely right. It’s so easy to just live your life at automatic pilot, but you can get so much more out of life if you follow your heart, take risks and look for adventure!
I believe everyone has dreams and a unique path in life. Many people don’t know theirs or don’t even think about it, but I encourage you to do some research about what your passions and dreams are. One question that helped me was when someone asked me “What can I wake you up for in the middle of the night?”. Besides icecream, friends and family, you can wake me up for business plans and web related stuff. Those are the things I’m passionate about. What are yours? What excites you? What do you like to do? What are things that give you energy? Questions like that will help you discover more about who you are and help you live a life closer to your heart.
